Review: 6th Anniversary Ddung

5/03/2015 Posted by Lucy , , No comments
It was my birthday on 24th April and I had a wonderful box of gifts arrive from my best friend Emma, and inside was a new Ddung for my collection! I am absolutely thrilled with her, Emma is the best :)

I am not sure of her official title but the box says "The 6th Anniversary". She came in a red box which is the usual colour for Ddung boxes, but the shape of the box is different to the others I have. You just lift the lid off this one and the little cutie was lying on a bed of straw. She was in a plastic cover when I first opened her but I removed it before I took these photos. Her accessories were just lose in the box around her.

She is dressed in a little animal suit (I'm not sure if its a bear or a mouse to be honest!) with a little apron; and comes with a stand, some sort of little trading card with a picture of another Ddung on it, a chef's hat and a little felt saucepan with a felt egg inside :)

The hood part of the animal suit not attached to it. Its a separate piece which holds onto her head with elastic under the chin. The apron is attached and the apron strings are what tie up at the back to hold the suit together. It makes me giggle when you turn her around because her little bum peeks out hehe :-) She does not come with any shoes and its quite difficult to get her to stand in the suit as a result. She has long brown hair which is nice and straight.

Both the chef hat and the saucepan attach with elastic. I'm not sure I'd have her with the animal hood and the chef hat on at the same time though as it would be a bit much I think. But its cute to be able to change them up. The little saucepan is adorable! I won't share nude pics of her as she has the same body as the other Ddung's which I have reviewed previously.

All in all, she is a real little cutie and I am so thrilled to have received her as a gift from one of my dearest friends. It seems my little Ddung collection is growing! I shall share a group photo of them all soon. Thank you so much for her Emma!!

Review: Middie Blythe Twinkle Princess

5/02/2015 Posted by Lucy , , , No comments
I had been interested in trying a Middie Blythe since they were first released but I kept putting it off as I don't spend an awful lot of time with my Neo Blythe (even though she is very special to me and I adore her) and thought it would therefore be silly to get another one. However, I have really been feeling the Blythe love lately and I have got my ticket for Blythecon UK in October which has rekindled my Blythe spirit even more; and so I decided it was about time I have a Middie a go.

I'd originally wanted a Lydia Green but I missed out on my chance to get her and she has shot up in price so she was off the cards. The most important aspect for me was making sure whichever I chose had a nice stock face as although I adore looking at other people's custom Blythe's, I like to keep mine stock so it was important that I chose a Middie with a pretty stock face. I also wanted a fairly normal stock outfit and hair colour that would look nice with Bryce, my Neo; and so I decided upon Twinkle Princess.

I'm afraid this isn't going to be a massively in depth review with box photos and the like as I was too excited to open her up when she arrived and didn't take any photos of her in the box. However, like the bigger Blythe's, she came in her pretty box inside a Blythe shipper box.

Her outfit consists of a one piece dress which has a white bodice and mesh sleeves with fur cuffs, and a blue layered skirt with white stars all over; a lilac cape with white fur trim and ribbon to tie it up with white pom poms on the ends, a felt lilac crown with star cut outs, and pearlescent white boots. She has silvery hair, bright blue eyes and pink lips and cheeks. She comes with a lilac stand.

I think she and Bryce go together pretty nicely. I love the height difference and I think their hair colours look nice together. Bryce has nice pink lips and cheeks too so they compliment each other well. In the second photo is a Lottie doll to show you the heights too. I suspect Lottie clothes will fit Middie reasonably well although they will be a bit big on the waist I'd have thought. I'll try it later anyway and let you know how I get on ;)

Unlike their big sisters, Middie's only have one set of eye chips and so they have no use for a pull string. What they do have though is a little wheel on the back of their heads which you can scroll to change the position of their eyes from left to right etc.

Her body is literally like a smaller version of her big sisters, but unfortunately Middie's can't bend their knees which is quite disappointing but I'm sure I'll get over it! As you can see, she also comes with those dreadful knickers that look like paper pants you get given at a hospital or something lol!

Whilst Middie's cannot bend their legs however, a nice feature they do have is that you can tilt their head into different positions so she can look up, down, and to the side etc. Her feet are teensy so normal Blythe size shoes won't fit but I think she looks kind of cute in her big sis's Converse :-)

Overall, I am really pretty happy with her and I know I am going to enjoy having a smaller doll to pop in my bag sometimes for taking photos out and about. I think Bryce is going to enjoy having a little sister too :-)

Review: Prince Bong-Gu Ddung Doll

4/11/2015 Posted by Lucy , , No comments
You may recall my recent post in which I reviewed the School Girl Ddung doll? Well this week I had a new arrival in the form of a Bong-Gu doll, who is in fact Ddung's little boyfriend :) The edition I received is Prince Bong-Gu, whom I got in the Luts sale with the School Girl Ddung.

The box he came in is much nicer than School Girl Ddung's. I think perhaps he was a more special edition or something. There is no window to see him inside the box but it is a much sturdier box and will be useful for storing things in. It has graphics of Ddung on the outside and a label at the top with Prince Bong-Gu on to identify him.

The inner part of the box slides out the top to reveal Prince Bong-Gu inside on a bed of shredded paper. Prince Bong-Gu himself and his crown and mask are in cellophane bags to protect them.

He comes with a fancy mask (for wearing to costume balls hehe!) and a crown, both of which have elastic on them to keep them on his head and face. They are nice and glittery but it doesn't seem to come off too much which is a good thing. The crown has a few plastic jewels on it too.

Here are some pictures of Bong-Gu with the crown and mask on. I don't think I will use them both at the same time very often as its a bit much, but they look super cute on him individually :)

He wears a cape which fastens at the front with ribbon tied in a bow, a little jacket, and a one piece suit made to look like a top and pants. He has the same posing abilities as School Girl Ddung so I won't go into detail about that here.

Prince Bong-Gu doesn't have plastic shoes, they are made of fabric; which is a shame, especially as they have stained his little feet :( He does come with a stand however, which is nice as School Girl Ddung did not. He is a real cutie though and is a welcome addition to my little Ddung/Bong-Gu family. Hopefully I will be able to take some more creative shots of them soon.

Review: School Girl Ddung

3/08/2015 Posted by Lucy , , , , No comments
I got a new dolly in the post this week :) I ordered her a while ago when Luts had a sale on, along with another one but that one hasn't arrived yet which is actually quite nice as it means I get to enjoy two new dolly days instead of one!

This little cutie is a Ddung (pronounced Doong) doll and actually, they were the first dolls to start of my official doll hobby :) I had the smaller key chain size ones when I originally collected them, and one full size doll of Ddung's little boyfriend Bong-gu who I still have as he was too adorable to part with; but I sold the small ones when I got into BJDs. However, I picked up full size Ddung secondhand a little while ago and felt the time was right to start introducing them back into my collection again.

Ddung's are vinyl dolls produced in Korea that are meant to depict a cute little 4 year old girl. They come in varying sizes and many different outfits and themes etc. You can read more about her at Cute in Korea. You used to be able to pick them up fairly cheaply but they seem to have increased in price since I originally collected them and the keychain size dolls seem scarce to find now which is a shame. However, you can find a decent variety on Ebay and its worth keeping an eye on places like Luts when they have a sale on as this girl and her boyfriend who will be arriving soon, were a brilliant price :)

This is School Girl Ddung and she is 18cm tall. Most the standard sort of dolls come in these cute red boxes adorned with sweet little cartoon pictures of Ddung on the outside but some of the special edition or themed dolls come in different themed boxes.

She is held in the box by plastic tabs affixed to a cardboard inner which is done to look like a little dressing room type thing with "mirrors" (mirrored card) on the walls. She was nice and easy to open and release from the packaging; however I was a little disappointed that she didn't come with a stand because my Bong-gu I kept from before has one so I assumed she would too.

School Girl Ddung has long brown hair which is nice to touch and not oily or greasy. She is dressed in a red beret, a white top with red spots, a denim pinafore dress, a cardigan/jacket, a brown satchel bag, white socks, white panties and white mary-jane shoes. The shoes are not totally flat however so it took a while for me to get her to stand in them which was a little frustrating and in fact, she is propped against a tube of glue in these photos!

She can sit without any bother though as her legs and arms move at the hip/shoulder. Her head also turns from left to right but that's as advanced as her movements get.

It is much easier to get Ddung to stand without her shoes on which also revealed that her socks are fakes :) They are more like leg warmers which I guess makes it easier to get her shoes on and off. All in all I am very happy to add another Ddung to my dolly family and she looks very sweet with her pink haired sister who was waiting here for her. I will take a picture of them all together when my Prince Bong-gu arrives. I added a quick photo of Ddung with a Blythe below also to give an idea of size. I think they look really sweet together. almost like sisters!

The Joker! - Littlefee Pongpong

6/21/2012 Posted by Lucy , , No comments
Look who turned up today! It was a bit of a surprise as I was tracking him and it said I had customs charges to pay, but today he turned up at the house and I didn't have to pay any at all!

I am super busy these next few days, studying for an exam, so I only had time to do a quick box opening. Tomorrow I will post some more photos and tell you about him a bit more but for now, here are some teaser pics =)

There are no extra words to the story other than whats on the speech bubbles, but its pretty self explanatory really ^____^

So I think we have quite the little joker in him! No longer he was so long in customs. He was busy telling jokes to all the customs officers!

Here is a piccie of him in some of his full-set clothes and wig. All I will tell you tonight is that his name is Sacha =)

Minoruworld Junior Minoru

6/16/2012 Posted by Lucy , , , 1 comment
Had a new arrival today! She was supposed to come yesterday but she was put on the wrong delivery van, grrrrr! But anyway, she is here now.

She is a Minoruworld Junior girl. Her sculpt is Minoru and she has the default faceup. She is in the standard natural skin, with the blossom body. She is in between Yosd and MSD size at 33cm (approx.) tall. I will do some comparison pictures of her with Rosa and Tabby tomorrow to show you.

This is her box. Nothing special but it did the job ;) I forgot to take a picture of inside but there was really nothing to see. They just come wrapped in bubble wrap and sandwiched in a big white cushion, lol. No certificate. There was some extra string or something, and her shoes I ordered with her.

I was worried to see her faceup as I took a while to decide on which sculpt to get as I didn't want her to look too old or too young. I think I chose well!

So on to some nudie pics to show her body and some of her poses. She is not double jointed like Fairyland dolls so she is not the greatest poser in the world, however, if you take your time with her, I think she will be just fine. The most annoying place for her not to be double jointed is the elbows. She is also really quite floppy. I may have to look into tightening her. If she were tighter, she would definitely be able to stand on one foot, but she can't at the moment. It means she can't get her hands right up to her face either as they flop down a bit. However, I'm confident that can be fixed with some tightening.

I forgot to say that she came with glib acrylic eyes, which is pretty standard. I think they are 14mm. I like the colour so she will keep them for now. Also, I think you could get away with some other more adventurous poses once she is dressed of you pull her legs out the sockets slightly etc. It would be too unsightly to do if they were on show, but hidden under clothes, I think it would be fine. I'll try it anyway, and let you know how I get on, lol!

So finally, here she is with a wig and some clothes on. Her clothes are MSD clothes from Nine9 Style. It is certainly going to be a challenge to dress this girl! I would love to just be able to find her some tights and some jeans at least.
